How to participate in the Herald & Review's Pet VIP Contest
1. To enter, submit a color or
black/white photo, along with a
completed entry form by 5pm
Wednesday, February 10, 2010.
Include your pet’s name along with
your name, address, phone number
and a $10 donation payable to the
Herald & Review Newspapers in
Education program. Mail to VIP Pets
Contest, C/O the Herald & Review,
601 E. William Street, Decatur, IL
62523 or drop off at William Street
Press, 602 E. William, between 8am
– 5pm. Absolutely no photos
will be returned.
2. The VIP Pet contest will consist
of three rounds of voting, with the
third round determining the Grand
Prize winner. All contestants will be
included in the first round. Each
consecutive round will eliminate one half
of the contestants, with the pets
receiving the lowest number of votes
being eliminated.
3. Voting for Round One will begin
Friday, February 19, 2010, when a
special VIP Pets supplement is
published. Look for complete voting
details inside. Deadline for Round
One voting is Thursday, February 25,
2010. Multiple ballots are welcome.
4. Votes will be zeroed out at the
start of each round. All votes for the
third and final round must be
submitted by 5pm Thursday, March
25, 2010. Winners will be
announced in the Herald & Review on
Sunday, April 4, 2010. The grand
prize winner will receive a $300 gift
certificate to Millie & Bo’s Barkery.
5. Photos of pets and pet names
will be published in the Herald &
Review for voting purposes.
6. Pets owned by the employees,
agents and independent contractors
of Lee Enterprises and their
immediate families are not eligible.
General Contest Rules
You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
No purchase necessary. If you would like to vote free of charge, you may do so by mail or in person at the Herald & Review office at 601 E. William St. To vote online, payment is required.(Up to five votes per day)-(Proceeds from paid votes do go to a worthy cause - the Newspapers in Education program.)
Winners will be notified by email or phone. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Decatur Herald & Review cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Decatur Herald & Review reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Decatur Herald & Review reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of Decatur Herald & Review, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to Decatur Herald & Review the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
Decatur Herald & Review reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and Decatur Herald & Review are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
